Inscription to John Wesley Hill from Emanuel Hertz. Hertz was a New York attorney and Lincoln biographer and expert. He was also a organizer of the Jewish community in Washington Heights and a philanthropist, donating over 20,000 books each to the Hebrew University library and to the Lincoln Memorial University. Hill was Chancellor of Lincoln Memorial University, Cumberland Gap, Tenn., 1916-1936, a Methodist minister and a Lincoln biographer. His father, Rev. John Wesley Hill, knew Lincoln and went on campaign stops with him throughout Illinois.

Signed by the author in an inscription gifting the book to Federico de Onis Sanchez. Zegri was a Chilean journalist and novelist who owned the Cafe Latino in Greenwich Village in the 30s and 40s at 15 Barrow Street. Sanchez was a Professor at Columbia from 1916-1954.
